On May 22nd - 23rd at Barker Central School, we will be celebrating our 4th Anniversary of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in Eastern Niagara County. Relay for Life is an overnight celebration of hope, progress and answers. This year we anticipate over 120 teams with more than 1000 participants, cancer survivors and more than 3000 community supporters attending the event. During the event, an estimated 1000 Luminarias will be laid out alongside the track and lit at sunset. Each light is dedicated to an individual who has battled cancer and will burn through the night - lighting the path of hope. We will be reserving 200 Luminarias that will be used to spell out he word HOPE in the bleachers as a glowing tribute to everyone touched by cancer. We are giving businesses, groups and individuals the opportunity to buy a HOPE Luminaria for $100. each to show their support of the fight against cancer. The funds raised by the event help the American Cancer Society accomplish the mission of research - to fined a cure, Education - to prevent cancer and detect it early, Advocacy - to enact laws that help reach goals to eliminate cancer and Service - to help everyone touched by cancer make it through the journey.
